Open Door Mission - Richard DenHerder

Richard DenHerder

Richard DenHerder is the Director of Finance and Administration at Open Door Mission.

Richard is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High school in Council Bluffs. He obtained a Bachelor Degree in Business from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and has attended classes and seminars at Stanford University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Open Door Mission - Richard DenHerderRichard joined the Open Door Mission team in 1997 as the part-time Bookkeeper. “I had been unemployed for approximately one year. I heard about the position from a friend at Westside Church. At that point, I had only been a Christian for about three years. After my interview, I felt the Lord directing me to accept this position, even though I was really looking for a full time position. The Lord has really blessed me!”

Richard and his wife, Lorraine, have three sons: Rick, Steven, and David.

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954. Each day, Open Door Mission ministries provides 320 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves nearly 1,500 hot nutritious meals, and provides preventive measures to more than 250 families living in poverty. to meet the basic physical needs of the hungry and homeless, the Open Door Mission’s day facility services provide free transportation from the downtown area to Open Door Mission and Lydia House. Open Door Mission offers life-changing programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
