Open Door Mission - Tom MeradithRev. Tom Meradith

Rev. Tom Meradith is Director of Church Relations at Open Door Mission.

Known as “Pastor Tom”, he joined the Open Door Mission staff in 2003 and served as Community Relations Coordinator and Director of Community Services before assuming his current role.

Open Door Mission - Tom MeradithBorn and raised in Omaha and a graduate of Omaha North High School, he earned a B. A. from Western States University. He was employed with Omaha Public Power District for 25 years and retired as a Senior Instructional Technologist at the nuclear power generation station. He has also served with local Christian organizations as Ministry Manager and Leadership Training Developer.

Open Door Mission - Tom MeradithPastor Tom represents Open Door Mission by speaking extensively to churches and other groups throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa. He sits on the Mayor’s Advisory Council and is a member of the Christian Evangelical Leaders Network. He is also a certified Disaster Chaplain with the American Red Cross.

Pastor Tom is a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and Vietnam Veterans of America.

He and his wife, Joan, have three children and three grandchildren, and 1 great-grandaughter.

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954. Each day, Open Door Mission ministries provides 320 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves nearly 1,500 hot nutritious meals, and provides preventive measures to more than 250 families living in poverty. to meet the basic physical needs of the hungry and homeless, the Open Door Mission’s day facility services provide free transportation from the downtown area to Open Door Mission and Lydia House. Open Door Mission offers life-changing programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
