Just 2 hours a month will change a life. Please consider this: ONLY 2 hours a month X 12 months = 24 hours a year. One day in 2008 spent changing lives.

You, your family , your coworkers, or your church - serving a meal, reading to children, playing board games with teens, rocking babies, building pantries, etc.

For your Life-Changing volunteer opportunity - email Cris today, to book a tour or start to volunteer.

Hand In Hand VolunteersHand-In-Hand. That’s how you and I can give help and hope to the hungry and homeless at Open Door Mission.

Every day, Open Door Mission provides safe shelter, hot meals, clean clothes, and other basic needs for more than 320 men, women, and children.

VolunteersThis means there’s a lot of potatoes to peel and blankets to wash, yet it’s often the first step to a changed life.

I hope you will consider joining us, Hand-In-Hand, in our mission to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty in our community. Together, we can make a difference! Here’s just a few ways how you or your group can be hands-on:

  • Dish it up. Help prepare and/or serve a breakfast, lunch, or dinner meal. At Open Door Mission, service with a smile can speak volumes.
  • Stock it up. Organize a drive to collect food and new or gently used clothing.
  • Click here for the Days ‘N’ Ways, flier that describes more opportunities for you and your group to help feed and care for the homeless and near-homeless throughout the year.
  • Open Door Mission - volunteersClean it up. With 320 pairs of hands and feet throughout the building every day, the perpetual upkeep can be challenging. Or, you can help spruce up outside by raking, trimming, or planting flowers.
  • Whoop it up. Plan an event for children staying at Open Door Mission. Bring in lunch from McDonalds for the kids, bring a craft, come and read a book to the kids for Story Book time.
  • Keep It Up. Can you volunteer every week? We have a place for your dedicated time and talents. Call our Volunteer Department at 422-1111, ext 1202 to schedule a time to meet.
  • Free It Up. Occasionally, Open Door Mission needs a volunteer “right now” to help complete special projects and events. If you’re that special person who can come on short notice, please let our Volunteer Department know, 422-1111, ext. 1202.

For more information about these and other volunteer ideas, please contact Open Door Mission’s Volunteer Department at 422-1111, ext 1202 or Email, they will be happy to assist you.
