Spring Gardening at the PSH
The residents at Open Door Mission’s Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) have been making exciting progress getting their garden ready! There was a great turnout from the community, and everyone worked together laying the groundwork for this year’s harvest.
Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to:
- Seed Planting: We officially started our green beans and peppers
- Trellis Setup: The structures are up and ready for the climbing plants
- New Additions: We even managed to get some scallions in the ground
Take a look at the photos below, and you can see the transformation and team in action! It’s been rewarding to see the space come to life as we prep for a busy growing season!
Supportive housing is offered to men, women, and families who may benefit from living in a stable environment for an extended period of time. Residents can live in a supportive housing environment while working or attending school part-time or full-time. This is a safe, affordable, supportive, sober living environment with two- and three-bedroom apartments available. Case management and training are available for residents. Metro bus line and shuttle services are available daily.
Shout out to Sherbondy’s Garden Center in Council Bluffs, which provided some of the early seeds for our garden! We eagerly await the seedlings to begin growing. A beautiful symbol of new life!
